The strictest wind code in the United States
Miami-Dade and Broward are the only two counties in Floridaβs High-Velocity Hurricane Zone. Inside it, windows, doors and roofing cannot simply carry a Florida Product Approval β they must hold a Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance, earned by passing three tests the rest of the state does not require: a large-missile impact test that fires a nine-pound 2x4 at the glass, a cyclic test of 9,000 pressure reversals, and a static air-pressure test. It is the toughest residential wind standard in the country, and it is why a Miami-Dade home with documented impact protection and a current roof is a genuinely different risk β and often a genuinely different price β than one without.
